You ideally want a balance between depth of substrate and surface area; this box has a 12” L x 12” W x 12 H form factor, so it’s small enough to stash somewhere, fits on a wire shelf nicely, but deep and wide enough to make sure you get a nice yield. It’s not the end of the world if you’ve got a bit of spare time on your hands, but if that’s the case then this product probably isn’t for you. This is for someone who wants something that comes out of the box, ready to start growing mushrooms. Everything fits together perfectly because that’s what it’s been designed to do, the filters, the plugs, the liner, it’s all purpose built..
